I am a 65 year old retired person who has tons of wonderful opinions on all manner of things. However, I find it hard to generate audiences for my wisdom, so have decided to post them here.
I consider myself mostly normal - whatever that is. I survived the 60's without drugs, had a family who have flown from the nest. The only ones left in the nest are Papa Bird and myself. He still works and reads a lot. I keep up with the world.
I am amazed at the things I was taught as moral truths that are no longer truths. Every generation complains about the younger people, so I won't go down that track. I think the kids are like we were. They try to find a place to fit into the world and are usually willing to do whatever it costs to do so. We did the same thing. For me the coming of age was drinking a beer and eating a pickled egg at the Crossroads - a beer joint near my college. We lived in a dry county and had to cross the county line to get alcohol. We did it. I never liked the taste of beer or any other alcoholic drink that was not mostly fruit juice - you know, those "sleeper" drinks that tasted like fruit punch and knocked you for a loop a few minutes early. We could handle it. We were invincible. Some of us survived.

For Leanne
Blest
the shoes that touch the feet
That
make the music swell.
And
blest the keys that know the touch of
One
who loves God well.
Blest
the ears that hear the songs
Which
firm their hearts in faith.
And
blessed be the soul of Her
Who
shares Christ’s love through praise.
How
blest are we who know that soul
And
share the gifts she brings.
Thanks
be to God for this dear one
Who
gives our voices wings.
For
Leanne, with Love, Gratitude and Awe
